(May 2010) Veiled Voices (2009) is a one-hour documentary film directed and produced by Brigid Maher and co-produced by Karen Bauer. The film depicts the lives and struggles of three Muslim women leaders. The women are Ghina Hammoud of Lebanon, Dr. Su’ad Saleh of Egypt, and Huda al-Habash from Syria. She is also a divorced woman. She uses her experiences to counsel other women. Dr. Su’ad Saleh hosts a weekly television show in Egypt called Women's Fatawa. It is a call-in show where people ask her for advice based on Islamic Shari'a Law. Huda al-Habash of Damascus is a lecturer at public speaking engagements throughout the Middle East. The film deals with how the three women are defining their roles as leaders.[2] Recognition Veiled Voices was an official selection at the 2010 Al Jazeera International Documentary Festival[3] in Doha, Qatar and the 2009 International Festival of Muslim Cinema in Kazan, Russia.
