Wilmer A. Reedholm (born 14 Sept. 1912 in Boxholm, Iowa[1] - died 26 Aug. 1994 in Stuart, Florida)[2] was an American aviation pioneer. In 1926 Reedholm designed and constructed his first airplane, a single-seat craft with a 28 hp engine. It made only one flight, a brief straight-line effort, with the unlicensed youth at the controls.[3] Reedholm obtained his solo permit at age 16, and became the nation's youngest fully-licensed pilot at age 18. He obtained a Transport Rating. In 1931 he was mentioned in the Dayton Ohio newspaper as second-place winner of a local air race. Reedholm became Vice-President of American Airlines, retiring at age 72. In 2007 Reedholm was posthumously inducted into the Iowa State Aviation Hall of Fame.[4] References ^ http://www.blogcatalog.com/blogs/iowa-bed-and-breakfasts/posts/tag/sw+country+inn ^ http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ancestorsearchresults.asp?standardize=N&last_name=Reedholm Family Search website ^ http://www.aerofiles.com/_ra.html "Reid" subsection ^ blog catalogs Persondata NAME Reedholm, Wilmer A ALTERNATIVE NAMES SHORT DESCRIPTION DATE OF BIRTH PLACE OF BIRTH DATE OF DEATH PLACE OF DEATH
