Christian Purslow Born December 14, 1963 (1963-12-14) (age 46) Cardiff Nationality British Occupation Managing Director Christian Mark Cecil Purslow is the managing director of Liverpool Football Club. He was appointed in June 2009[1] as a replacement for Rick Parry. After graduating in Modern and Medieval Languages at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, [2] he earned an MBA at Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar.[3] Prior to his appointment at Liverpool he founded MidOcean Partners, a private equity firm. In September 2009, he agreed a £80million sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered Bank.[4]. Purslow had been criticised by many Liverpool fans for his failure to find investment since joining the club. He was also roundly criticized for his alleged involvement in the dismissal of manager Rafa Benitez. On October 6th Purslow voted in favour of the sale of the club from current unpopular owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett to the NESV group. In response to this Purslow refused requests from Hicks to resign along with Ian Ayre. Hicks subsequently claimed both Ayre and Purslow had been sacked although the matter remains at the centre of a legal dispute with Liverpool Chairman Martin Broughton claiming Hicks no longer has the authority to change the clubs board.
