(April 2010) Gary Johnson is a British born record producer, composer, songwriter and remixer known to work under several aliases including System Exclusive, Afterburner, Europa XL, Arecibo, Deep 'n' Crunchy, Stunt, Tezla and FilterScope, and was one half of Hillyer & Johnson with UK DJ and Southern FM radio presenter Paul Hillyer. In the late 1990s he was a member of the remix and production team Motiv 8 with Steve Rodway and Russ Hurley. He is currently collaborating on a new project under the alias AstroShift. Now residing in California, he also composes music for several international TV shows including the BBC series Nigella Feasts and the Daytime Emmy Award nominated Nigella Express featuring Nigella Lawson. In 2002 he composed the theme for the Food Network show Barefoot Contessa, which also received Daytime Emmy nominations in both 2005 and 2007. Johnson reworked his original theme for a new High Definition version of the show in 2008, which won one of its two nominations for host Ina Garten in the 2009 Daytime Emmy Awards.
