Coordinates: 45°37′59″N 122°36′07″E / 45.633°N 122.602°E / 45.633; 122.602 2008 Vancouver tornado Radar loop of the thunderstorm which spawned the tornado Date: January 10, 2008 Time: 12:15 p.m. – 12:40 p.m. PST Rating: EF1 tornado Damages: $525,000 Fatalities: None Area affected: Clark County, Washington The 2008 Vancouver tornado was a rare tornado that occurred in the city of Vancouver, Washington on January 10, 2008.[1] The NWS rated this storm to be an EF-1 (wind speeds of 90-110 mph).[2] The National Weather Service briefly posted a Tornado Warning, but quickly retracted it.[3] The tornado was immediately accompanied by several funnel clouds, and an advisory issued stated that more funnel clouds were possible.[4] A funnel cloud was seen to the south of the tornado in Gresham, Oregon.[4] The storm was a rare event in the Pacific Northwest.[3] Damage to a marina in Vancouver Damage reports showed widespread downed power lines, malfunctioning traffic lights, and roofing that had been ripped off.[1] Although the majority of damage was light in nature,[5] in at least one case a home was completely demolished.[4] At least 2,500 homes and businesses had lost power because of the storm.
