(May 2008) Ardeosaurus Fossil range: Late Jurassic Restoration Scientific classification Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Sauropsida Order: Squamata Family: Ardeosauridae Genus: Ardeosaurus Ardeosaurus is an extinct genus of basal lizard (Evans et al., 2005), from the Late Jurassic of Germany. Fossil Ardeosaurus was distantly related to modern geckos, and had a similar physical appearance. It was around 20 centimetres (7.9 in) long, with a flattened head and large eyes. It was probably nocturnal, and would have fed mainly on small invertebrates.[1] References ^ Palmer, D., ed (1999). The Marshall Illustrated Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Animals.
