History The current Union Vale Middle School campus was built in 20 after the school district voted on an expansion that would increase the number of schools in the area. In 2001, the local residents voted for the addition of another middle school, Union Vale, and another elementary School, Vail Farm. After much review, the school district voted to have UW Marx be the primary contractor. The school went for a design, similar to that of which Arlington High School, also in Lagrangeville. The middle school opened on September 6, 2004 and welcomed in the new students. The school mascot is "The Rays". It was originally UV Rays, but after many petitions from the students in favor of changing the mascot to stingrays instead, the mascot was changed to "The Rays". The School now gives out "Rays of Light" to model students. The students from LaGrange Middle School and Arlington Middle School were moved around in plan of a redistricting which separated many friends and caused a community uproar. The school was the newest addition to the ACSD schools, with a library (that includes a small computer lab), two state-of-the-art full size computer labs, and three brand new gymnasiums. Its outdoor facilities include a soccer, baseball, softball, and football field, as well as a track and four fenced tennis courts. Grand Opening The grand opening of Union Vale Middle School was in September 2004. School officials were present as well as district officials and the public. Several newspapers were on hand. The ribbon was cut around noon, followed by a free roam period around the new facility, following that a marching band parade occurred around the campus property. Later that day on the other side of the property the ribbon cutting for Vail Farm Elementary took place. The Union Vale Mascot External links Home Page
